| Reverend James Edward Henry is a native Nashvillian, son of deceased parents Walter Henry and Hattie M. Johnson. He is married to Frankie M. Henry. They have a son, Lamont K. Henry, and a granddaughter, Christian L. Henry.
Reverend Henry was baptized at age 10 at Mount Ararat Baptist Church , during the pastorate of the late Rev. Felix H. New. He was licensed for gospel ministry on September 1, 1985, ordained on August 30, 1987, served as interim pastor of Mount Ararat from November 5, 1989 until June 17, 1990, when he was then voted Pastor, and installed as pastor of Mt. Ararat , on the First Sunday of August 1990.
Reverend Henry was educated in Nashville Public Schools, (B.A.) from Howard University School of Law, (MA) Middle Tennessee State University , (TH.B.) American Baptist College , and (MDiv.) Vanderbilt University School of Divinity.
Reverend Henry captained his high school and college football teams, taught social studies and coached football and basketball at Holloway High, coached football at Fisk University , worked in supervision for E.I. DuPont Co., taught part time at American Baptist College, served on the board of directors for Project Return and Nashville Prevention Partnership.
Reverend Henry is a member of the NAACP, a Prince Hall Mason, and a Shriner.
Reveren Henry is in his 19th year as the lead shepherd of this flock known as Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and is continuing to let God lead him as he moves forward with God's work. |
